What kind of convention is Millennium?

Our convention caters to many different gaming tastes and styles. Unlike other conventions that support multiple genres, we don't have one group trying to be all things to all people. The historical miniatures and board gaming events are hosted by Lone Star Historical Miniatures. Our RPGA events are hosted by the Austin RPGA.

Lone Star Historical Miniatures

Lone Star Historical Miniatures serves both the states of Texas and Louisiana. We promote miniatures wargaming in both the historical and fantasy/sci-fi groups.  We are not dedicated to one rule set, we encourage diversity.

The annual Millennium Gaming Convention in Austin is coordinated by the LSHM Millennium Gaming Convention (an owed entity of LSHM). The Millennium Convention offers miniatures, board games, card games and tournaments. We also have a dealer room with both retailers and manufacturers.

Least we forget past Millennium Conventions, you are invited to revisit the conventions by viewing the Millennium X photo album, Millennium 8 photo album or the Millennium 9 photo album and the list of 2006 games.

Millenniumcon X is over. The convention was a great success and we are all looking forward to Millenniumcon XI.  This will be the eleventh annual Millenniumcon event.

Well our big gaming event is now over and I've had a day or two to recover. A giant thanks go out to everyone who helped to make Millennium X a huge success. More than 130 games were put on for the enjoyment of the gaming crowd, including over 185 participants for Friday evening (unprecedented numbers). We had a record number of flea market tables, too.

The LSHM Challenge had a great showing as well with numerous strong submissions. Among all the great Challenge games, six would gather the most votes - Bosworth Field (Waco), Bronze Age (Austin), Operation Bagration (SA), Marlborough's Fate (Waco), A Right Smart Little Fight (SA), and The Battle of Edgehill (Waco). Marlborough's Fate (Waco) was finally crowned LSHM Challenge winner for Millennium X. Great job by everyone.

And RPGA Austin group had a good turnout.

We had 12 folks compete in the DBM tourament, with a sizable Mississippi crowd coming in.

Again thanks to everyone (especially my crew) for making Millennium X a success. I described the scene more than once as buzzing like a beehive; the energy and electricity were quite visible. We are already looking ahead to XI to continue that energy and hope you will join us in that endeavor. Keep your eyes open for the next announcement, which should be date and location, in the next couple of weeks.

Take care and see you at XI

LSHM CONVENTION CHALLENGE

cupEveryone is welcome and in fact encouraged to participate as a referee or game host. You may notice some icons next to certain game hosts names as they are listed in the game detail sections. These icons identify the game host as a member of our organization and shows what chapter they are a member of. You will also notice some events have an LSHM challenge icon. The challenge is a friendly competition between the clubs to see who can put on the best convention game.

Each chapter is given the opportunity enter games hosted by members of their chapter in a competition to determine the best game at the convention.  A chapter may enter as many games as they wish. The award is judged by members of the Millennium staff. All Challenge games must be presented during a Saturday session. Challenge games will be judged only during Saturday sessions.

The Millennium X LSHM Convention Challenge was won by The Waco Chapter with Jim Dunnam serving as the game host for "Marlborough's Fate "

AUSTIN RPGA

Once again the Austin Chapter of the Role-Playing Gamers Association is participating at Millennium.

One of the major attractions about the RPGA are the so-called Living Campaigns. The RPGA maintains a database of scenarios for these campaigns, which can be ordered by RPGA members and played at home, at conventions and gamedays. Unlike most convention games, you create your own characters which you can keep playing in subsequent games of the same campaign.

Check out the Austin RPGA website on the navigation bar for the latest information.
